This is being organized in honour of African Film makers who have contributed to the development and progress of the African Film Industries over the years in diverse ways and also to reward those who have been outstanding in the roles performed in films during the year 2006 to 2009 whether on the continent or in the Diasporas.

Two new Awards: “The Cultural Heritage Award” and the “Mother Tongue Awards” have been created by the organizers and would be one of the highly competitive awards. The Cultural Heritage Award will go to the best film that portrayed Africa’s rich culture in 2006 to 2009. The Mother Tongue Award on the other hand is for films set in any African Language which storyline reveals an “educative content with a view to raise awareness of the said content”

The highest Award is the Appreciation Award. This is the Award for Fellow Africans who have contributed immensely to the development and progress of the African Film Industry up until this day. The Appreciation Award shall be conferred on individuals whose country will represent at the Festival this year as well as subsequent ones. We are very much aware that many have been instrumental in this very area and in other not to run before walk, the organizers have decided to confer the award on one person per country each year.
